How to Promote an Event on Social

By: Alena Collins

Promoting an event on Facebook helps increase its visibility, but to make the most impact, you need to take a strategic approach. In the weeks leading up to the event, there are a few things you can do to promote the event on social media. From event creation to posting about it, here are some ways to build awareness with your audience.

Create a Facebook Event

Start by creating an engaging Facebook event page and including all the important details so you can bring awareness to the event. Capture the audience’s attention by offering a compelling overview of what to expect at the event by highlighting any special guests or activities. Make sure you have a landing page to drive them to that features the home, community, or event. This allows you to push anyone interested in attending to your site for more information. Use an eye-catching photo that represents the event such as a home or community or create a branded graphic to use as the cover photo for the event.

Steps for Creating an Event:

  1. Add a cover photo.
  2. Write in the name of the event you’ll be hosting.
  3. Add the start date and time and the end date and time of the event.
  4. If the event is in person, add an address for the event.
  5. Add in all of the event details and RSVP info.
  6. Select the category your event falls under to market the event.
  7. Add in any co-hosts for the event.
  8. Add in a ticket/RSVP link if the event has one.
  9. If the event is going to be multiple days, select repeat event and add in the date and time.
  10. Review event communication settings and update if needed.
  11. Create the Facebook event.

Post on Social Media

Once your Facebook event is created, it’s time to start posting about it on social.

Make sure you have appealing photos and videos to help promote it in the best possible way.

Post teasers of what’s to come to generate excitement. By leveraging teaser posts, you can offer a glimpse of what’s to come without revealing everything. These posts include behind-the-scenes content, speaker announcements, activities, and more. If the home is still under construction, post a room showcasing what’s to come.

Videos are also a great way to promote your event, so don’t be afraid to share a walkthrough of your home and even the community the event is in. This helps the audience get a glimpse into what it’s like living there.

If you’re looking for your event posts to stand out on social and look cohesive, create some branded graphics that feature photos of the theme, home, or community.

These posts should build anticipation with your audience and give them a reason to return to your page for more updates. As the event date approaches, create urgency by using “Don’t miss out” and “Hurry last chance to sign up” CTAs.

Remind the audience of why they should attend, whether it’s learning something new, touring a model, or enjoying a unique experience. One way to highlight this is with posts that count down the days and each one highlights a different reason to attend.

If you have a select number of tickets or spots, emphasize the limited availability to encourage people to secure their place. If you have run this event in the past, share testimonials from previous attendees about how they benefited from attending.

Advertise the Facebook Event

A way to broaden the reach of an event is by boosting it on Facebook. Targeting a specific area and interests can help reach the right audience for the event. Running a remarketing campaign for a realtor event allows you to target your list of realtors to invite them to attend.

After the Event

Engage with the audience post-event by sharing some of the fun highlights. It allows the audience a behind-the-scenes look at the event and helps make the brand more relatable. By using photos, videos, and key takeaways from the event, you can show that you care more about the people who attended than your brand. Some other ways you can do this is by thanking your audience and collecting feedback. Send an email to the attendees thanking them for attending and attach a post-event survey to gather feedback and help improve future events.
